Get a sketchbook, any kind. moleskines are nice to use. or you can make your own sketchbooks outta scrap paper and cardboard and be punk rock about it. microns are great pens to use. brush pens are awesome. crayola markers and crayons, colored pencils… are also fun. but yea! keep drawing! always! don’t stop! draw what’s in front of you! draw yourself! draw pets, and dogs and cats and go to the zoo and draw all the animals and patrons. go to a mall or a shopping center and draw people. draw people at the library. and if you don’t wanna draw people draw books instead! draw in the books. draw your parents, draw grandma or grandpa, use watercolors in the sketchbook, don’t be afraid to experiment, don’t be afraid of messing up! make the messup something interesting! draw bits of conversation you hear, let anything and everything crawl it’s way into your sketchbook! life! let friends doodle in it, do not view the pages as precious. that’s the moment a sketchbook, a good sketchbook is ruined. and dies. and is dead. draw every day. draw something great. draw something stupid. draw something serious. draw something funny. just keep drawing. every. day. in the words of my mentor, the great Corny Cole: Draw! Goddamnit! and that is my advice to you, goddamnit!
