    Notes: 13

Draft of my new teaching statement.

Values/ suppositions/ considerations. (Advice for myself and my students.)

Actively build and care for the networks of which you are a part. You are de facto a node instead of merely a self. Don’t let that self be a slave to circumstance.

Think in public.Don’t fear mistakes. Others may learn from your mistakes. So can you. Be open to changing your mind. Iterate.

    Don’t interpret. Experiment.
( via Deleuze) Try something new.

Cultivate gratitude. It is difficult to be grateful and miserable at the same time.

Process is more significant than product. Follow your curiosities and desires. Make a map of this. The map is the product of your process.

Involve yourself in interesting creative problems. Generate energy and life from what you don’t quite grasp yet.

Build tolerance for complexity and ambiguity.Grapple with what you find difficult. Instead of tuning out the things that bring about uncertainty and discomfort, use them as cues for further thought and development.

Get voracious about the data and information you are sensing. Develop filters and tools to navigate that data and info.

Program in a larger sense. Think with systems. Algorithmic thinking. This might allow for sustainability if you get good at it.

Adaptability may often trump mastery. Be flexible and open to possibilities.
